So today I did my normal water change of about 20gallons and went to work for about seven hours now that I'm home his massive kok has lost at least an inch and looks almost loose and soft. He's in a 75 running a fluval 405 and an ac110, tank is well established and has been for about a year. My test kit is old so I won't be able to get an accurate reading till tomorrow but the tank has never had an issue before regarding water quality. He was almost full grown when I got him with the only noticeable growth being in his kok. Now it's smaller then I have ever seen. Any ideas?

the kok , isnt a kok its a naudical hump lol kok is a fh thing i think,
but if im not mistaken it is a fat storage , so has he been eating properly, does he have signs of sickness, loafing around?

Ha I thought the terms were synonomous? He ate fine this afternoon but now he took a big mouthful and spit it out aftera while. He seems a little less aggressive then normal but still tried to bite me when I was checking the heater so I don't know.

I think it has to do with water changes. My male loses his hump when i do cold water changes the drop in temperature affects the hump. but once the water temperature becomes stable it comes back. It could be water changes or a number of other reasons.

sounds like a devil , lol, yeah i have no idea about the kok fh term i was talking out my butt , however i do think it is a fat storage for them, seems weird but there are alot of good fish brains on here, i have no idea,

It is the same meaning although kok (pronounced coke) is typical used when referring to Flowerhorn. Its entirely up to you what you want to call it but this being the CA/SA section, you might get corrected.

Agreed.

If this is a solo fish and you would like to try to increase its size, you could try giving him 15-30 mins of mirror time every so often. The size is totally dependent on genetics but there are things to help him reach his full potential.

I thinking it was the water change. I did it kinda fast and not gunna lie, I just topped it off cause i did a larger one lat weekend.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance and the info on his hump. I think kok is going to stay because my roommate found out that's what it's sometimes called and refuses to believe it isn't pronounced "cock" haha and tells every visitor that the hump is carls cock.
