Hey guys!
I am very experienced in cichlids but I need some help! I have a 55 gallon tank with one large red devil cichlid. He is very aggressive but I really want another tank mate with him. I'm thinking a small arowana or something but I'm afraid the red devil will eat them... Any ideas I'm open to all suggestions!

An arowana should never be in a 55gallon, forget the part your red devil will most likely stress it out or destroy it. Furthermore, your tank barely meets the minimum for a red devil ...

Convict Cichlid or Green terror, but not with the red devil.

At best, you could try a female red devil but would have to take the male out for a couple days, rearrange completely for her, and then once you put him back in watch him carefully. But to be honest, your tank is really to small to house two fish of that size anyway.

I would not add an Arowana with a RD.
With most CA Cichlids, you're pretty much taking chances/risks when adding any other Cichlid.
