you should get him a female red devil to get his juices flowing lol ..... and get some fry out of iti...
Kewl. Make sure the female is a little smaller than your male just incase she goes nuts if they start to breed. I made that mistake with cons and a trimac before. I'd had a trimac about 10" and got a female rd about the same size and she went psycho on him. She beat the living crap out of him, nearly killed him. The male should be bigger than the female so he can keep her under some kind of control.

definitely keep the divider in just in case. I recently bought a 5" male red devil and put a slightly smaller female with him and he didn't much care for having anything else in the tank with him. so I put in a divider with a hole just big enough for the female and they're doing fine. the female spends most of her time by herself on the other side of the divider though. 
red devils sound awesome. the lfs i shop at has a mated pair. both are at least 9-10" the male being the bigger. wish i had the room....
this is him, i took some pictures of him today while i had him in a hold tank while i set up his tank better and cut the hole in the divider for the female.
I am confused....is a true red devil amphilophus labiatum or citrinellum. I have a labiatum and his snout seems to be a little longer and the lips a little larger. Are the midas and red devil just two different names for the same species..a lot of people use them interchangably. Just curious

I agree with Saku that your fish looks a bit more midas than devil but is most likely a mix of both. one thing I will say is 
he's a fantastic looking fish.

JeffLeMay, the red devil is Amphilophus labiatus. Amphilophus citrinellus is the midas cichlid. most, if not all, "red devils" you find in a pet store are a hybrid of the 2 species because both hobbyists and fish farms have been crossing them for years. to get a pure red devil or midas you have to find a reputable breeder or importer. they are both great fish.
