sand is great if you know how to clean it. Unfortunatley it requires a skill I am unable to master hence I gave up as I got sick of replacing it after loosing it whilst cleaning. Not to mention that rd's like oscars are very dirty fish. If your going to use it be prepared to "top" it up till you get the knack of cleaning it
