:ROFL:I'ma love it! Great sense of humor!

I have a 4 flowerhorns, all 4" and less, and they are more aggressive than my Midevil.

My midevil will come up to the glass if I pretend I'm kissing him, and put his lips against mine. I can hand feed him, and he occasionally will let me pet him.

My 4" FH- has already bitten me and drawn blood.

They are very entertaining cichlids to own. I have a Midevil that is pushing close to 7". He used to only charge the glass and flare when I approached but would run and hide during water changes...not anymore. I don't know what happened but he aggressively pursues my hand during water changes to the point that I have to use a net as a shield. I tried to outsmart him by holding the python hose very high up to avoid being bitten, but that didn't last long. He figured out that my hand was the cause of the python disturbing his domain. So now he disregards the python and hovers at the surface to go at my fingers as soon as they break the waters surface. I have to experience this every Friday on water change day. I don't go out of my way to make him bang the glass. To me that only stresses a fish. But he does it on his own every time anyone or dog comes to close to his tank. If you get one, plan ahead for a proper tank size and tankmates .

Are red devils fun to keep

Red devils are way fun to keep........I like to call them Midas Devil, inly because most that are store bought are mixed with the genese of both species.........I actually have my eye on a pair of breeding adults right now..............I was told, and still go by, the thought that to distinguish a red devil from a midas is to look at the bottom lips..........The red devil has more of a fat lip than that of of the more boxier-"pitbull" framed Midas..............As for for character, the Midas devil is at the most when being known as to what people have been getting into the cichlid hobby for------->THEIR RESPONDSIVENESS TO THEIR OWNERS..............It is not hard to train these fish to know you, they actually learn from their feeding schedule who you are.........Lots, I have seen, even let their owners hold and pet them..............The basic diet is the same as of any medium to large predator cichlid..................A varied diet of krill, market shrimp, brine shrimp, mealworms, pellet, flake is what keeps the midas devil alive and well...........A 75g will do, but 100-125 is perfect for one or two........LOTS of filtration..........I suggest using two HOB filter, and one canister or wet/dry filter for the combo setup............Water changes are must, one 50% change every week.............If my guidlines are followed, the basic growth rate from 1-2 inches to 8-10 inches would be a year and half..........The Midas Devil grows about a half an inch to an inch the first 5-8 months of its life.........
:naughty:
