red ear slider

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah adults are mainly herbivorous..so u could probly get away with a small pond..and some large sa/ca cichlids

i have seen two 4"ers rip a 4.5 inch gourami to shreads for dinner...no i dont think any fish will last...for very long...

ive had a "chinese algea eater" in with my res for months now and it occasionaly gets a nipped fin thats it, the res is about 2inches and same with the alge eater. i also kept it with a koi of about 8inches with no problem, and 5inch commets with the occasionaly fin nip is all. and ive seen them in a pond at full size male/females with goldfish close to there size and no problems. it depends on the temperment of the personal turtle.

I've never kept sliders but I've had Eastern and Midland Painted Turtles outdoors in a 600 gallon pond with bullheads, sunfish, and rock bass and they never bothered the fish. They were also well fed.

My dad use to have a 1500g pond in our backyard that he kept koi and RES. Never had any problems.

Turtles + Fish = Fed Turtle.

You can try and get away with some danios or tiger barbs, which might be fast enough to escape the turtles, but don't spend quality time teaching them tricks, or tucking them into bed, because quite frankly, the turtles might get to them before the morning comes ;)

Well you can do it just be choosy with the fish, make sure its a fish that will defend it self. I have about 9 turtles in a pond with some o's a peacock bass and two pikes (cichlids) They all do fine with the turtles and yes two turtles are res but the others are not. The turtles will nip at fish but like i said if a fish fight back the turtle will not try to nip again. Its not worth getting hurt over and pellets are easy to catch.
