I was recently given a juvenile Freddy and I have never kept or researched this fish before. I'm not a stranger to parachromis I've owned and researched Jags to the full extent. I've been looking up Freddy just to get a good idea of the visual aspect and most of the fish I've seen seem to have blue highlights on their fins while the fish I was given has red. Is this not a Freddy? I've googled red fins on friedrichsthalii but didn't find much. Thanks.

Looks like you may have a female loisellei. They look very similar.

+ 1. Looks just like my female loisellei. The silverish patch behind the head and under the dorsal fin is an indicator, and I've heard that freddy's don't have the pearling around the edges of black on the head whereas loisellei's do. Great looking fish in any case. I've found that the red on the fins intensifies with age.
