I had one in an 85 gallon that grew to 11 inches that would do this every day. I had him for 5 years until he outgrew the 85 traded to lfs. I wouldnt worry as that behavior was normal for mine as I had 3 large aitstones going plus to ac 110 on the tank so it was well areated
