  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok will do. Worst case I wait until this weekend when they leave quarantine and go into the 125.

Edit: I forgot I took several, here is another I took at the same time as the first. (Also I feel like he doesn’t always have the light patches either)

Yes, it's L137. I have a pair that I believe are M&F, both around 6". They're great fish.
I also have a large Blue Eye Cochliodon. The 137's eyes are nowhere near that color blue.

The pattern you're seeing is normal, comes and goes. Probably just mood-related. The fins should color up more redish as it settles in, though my two are very different degrees of red.

$65 is a bit high. I've seen them anywhere from $20-$50 at my local shops.
As long as you've got the space just hang onto it and enjoy it. From my experience, they're one of the more active places and seem to get along with everyone.

For those thinking Rhino, I'll be happy to post some pictures of mine if you'd like to see the difference. Rhino is basically all dark brown with some different shade patches, had fairly large scutes on it's side (probably why some call it alligator pleco), and huge flaps on it's nostrils. Another dead giveaway on a rhino it the upper lobe of it's tail is always a light yellow/cream color. Another great and peaceful pleco.

Since we're on the topic of L137, for those of you who've had them for a while what has their growth rate been like for you? Anyone have a a full grown one?

I purchased my pair 4 or 5 years ago. Bother were about 3". Grew probably and inch are year but once they hit 6" they seem to have stopped or at least really slowed.

Thanks guys! Yeah I’m definitely keeping him, still a pretty Pleco.

Slightly off topic but still in regards to plecos; I can’t seem to get rid of Ich, I had it gone for over a week using Rid-Ich but I’m noticing a discus has a few spots in its side. How do plecos hold of using rid Ich?

Raise temp to 86* and add aquarium salt 1tbs per gallon.
Just had a pair of L27 Teles Pires arrive and a couple of days in they erupted with white growths. Not positive if it was ich or not but got the advice on this forum and it did the trick.
In the past when tetras and things got ich I just raised temp and it cleared up.
