Does anybody know where I could purchase one of these, or even catch one. I've def. got my sights set on one of these. I've kept a regular pickerel for a few months when i was in high school at the school itself in an aquaculture program, and it was def. an interesting fish. These guys only grow to about 12-13 inches from what I've read so keeping them might be more realistic.

Try Jonah'saquarium. They carry a lot of natives.

thanks a bunch guys, any info you can give me on these guys. just like a miniature version of the chain or larger pickerels right?

yes. don't house them with aggressive tankmates. good luck with trying to get them on anything other than live food.

yeah, that seems to be the big problem i face. I dont have any room for any right now anyway, so I'm gonna hold off. I was a few convict pairs would help, but these guys go through so many so quickly, it would probably be to tough for the convicts to keep up with their appetite

oh, and what would be a nice tank size for one of these? would a 68 gallon tub work?

What are the dimensions on your tub, they average 12-14" at adults and have been known to get a bit over 16" and are not real flexible, I would want something at least 2'wide and twice that long, planted. Rubbermaid makes an oval 100g for under $70 and a 300g for under $180 at Ace hardwares Stores that would work.

do you think a pair of convicts could keep up with the appetite of these guys?
