  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i mean keeping the convicts in a seperate tank, and then feeding their young to the pickerel. i would never keep them with the pickerel.

Does anybody know where I could purchase one of these, or even catch one. I've def. got my sights set on one of these. I've kept a regular pickerel for a few months when i was in high school at the school itself in an aquaculture program, and it was def. an interesting fish. These guys only grow to about 12-13 inches from what I've read so keeping them might be more realistic.

When you say regular pickerel do you mean Grass pickerel? If so, I think you'll find the two nearly identical. A little more red in the fins of a redfin.
I also wouldn't expext either redfin or grass pickerel to exceed the 10"-12" mark in home aquaria.

Grass and redfins probably won't get bigger than 12" but sometimes do, especially if you give them a cold "season", like pikes the return of the warmth stimulates growth, chain pickerel get a bit bigger maxing out at around 30", They need a good turning radius so even a 12" one should have at least 20" turning radius to keep long term. the pics are chain, redfin, and grass pickeral.

i'd have to check the measurements of the 68, so i might just go to lowes and pick up something larger, ive got my sights set on the red-fin, and i think i might just stick with one. dont think they like each other. what kind of filtration should i be looking for. and from reading up on these guys, they do like warmer temps, 75-80
