Hey everybody,

My LFS has told me that they are going to bring in some red and some gold arowana. I asked how much the red would be he said around $530 for one 7-8". I have never seen any for sale where i live so have no idea about pricing. Does this seem reasonable? I didnt ask about the gold. He said they would be at the shop in 2-3 weeks, so i will get picks for sure when i see them, ive never seen them in real life before, i cant wait. The chances are i will get one for my new tank set up just want to know if im getting ripped off and if so how badly!?

Thanks in advance

kinda so cheap for a red or gold !

For the prices you quoted

The gold will be a red tail gold in my eyes this type of Asian aro are the best value for money out of all Asian aros great looking fish and cheap you get a lot of aro for your $

The red will be a 1.5 banjar red this type of Asian aro are junk in my eyes no shine no colour they are just a waste of money you would be better of buying a green and saving yourself a few hundred $$

People buy a banjar with the hope that one day it will turn red and the farm may have made a mistake and sold you a grade 1 red IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN

Thanks for the reply T1KARMANN. So if I understand correctly if it is a True gold or true red then for the price ive been quoted i should definitely go for it? however if its the ones you suspect is it still a good deal to go for? If it makes any difference the person at the fish shop told me that they will come microchipped and with the certificate. Thanks again, much appreciated

your should take some pictures as soon as they arrive and let us see how good they are !

from my memory of pricelists golds and reds are over 1100-1300 wholesale.
so if chipped would follow these kinds of prices for the retailer. retailers will ussually mark up 200-300 percent.
T1karmin might have it right because that would fit the pricing for rtgs, i thought around 300-350 for wholesale though so still seems cheap if you can buy retail at 500 odd.

I would go with rtg but i think some banjars look ok

Alright guys thanks a lot! I will get pics ASAP and post them before i make any decisions. Starting to think it will be too good to be true.

However, my only thought is that because we import every single fresh water fish (live on a small island in the Arabian Gulf) im hoping they are bringing them in wholesale and because fish keeping is not the most popular thing out here they are only adding $100 or so ontop of what they get them at. Im guessing they are coming straight from Asia as we have no laws on importing any kind of fish.

Will defo keep you all posted :) Thanks again :)
