Red growths

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Mine has one on his nostril and another one right next to it. there very small. The ones on his back shrank alittle. Dont know what it is. If anyone knows what else to treat with besides salt let me know thanks

parasitic worm (Lernea), or Anchorworm. Treat it with De-los is best. But it is not very serious problem.

Thanks for reply, will try looking for some today. Does anchor worm spread easy? Should I treat my whole tank?

Mdi, could you please post pics of the affected areas? The previous photos do not show any sign of anchorworms.

I did not post a pic of mine, sorry for hi-jacking the thread. Maybe both of our Texas have same thing. I treated with salt for a week and gave a salt bath. They only shrank alittle. Then few days ago another one started around the nostril. So treated on thursday with Jungle Labs Parasite Clear. They are turning more white now, the one on the nostril is starting to get a small white string. Don't know if it is worm or not.

It looks like mine has the same thing as your fish. Mine has pop eye now too. The rest of my fish appear fine.

Don't know if the parasite clear is working for whatever it is. But they seem to be shrinking a little. I posted on another forum and they said it does not look or sound like anchor worm. They said it could be Lymphocystis which is contagious and takes like a month too run its course and to do 2-3x water changes a week for a month. But I really don't know my texas acts fine.

TrikkyMakk I just checked my texas this morning and the growth on the nose is almost gone, the ones on the fins are still there but smaller. Will post pics later. You could try the Jungle Labs Paracite clear. I would quarantine your texas though. I lost a bushy nose pleco and one tetra with the medicine in the past 5 days
