Red Head Geos, Red Hump Geos, Notatus, Gymneogeo Yerbalito

Sorry I miss read your gymnos stats, thought you had 3 males and 2 females, not male 3 inches and female 2 inches. The 30g should be fine for them but they'd appreciate the room of the 55g. Your species of gymno are harem breeders so I'd recommend getting more females if you do move them to the 55g.

As for other species of fish to keep with gymnos you can keep any thing that can handle the colder temps and has a peaceful demeanor. There are some types of tetras that could work, along with C. paleatus, some types of live bearers, white clould minnows, and others I can't think of at the moment.

No problem thanks, i have the 3 female notatus are they harem breeders as well or shoul i keep 1 female only, currently the largest female chases the other 2 away and the male will sometimes flirt with either of the other 2 but the big female is a little bigger than him and will usually come overnand win him back i feel like she is in charge.

I would get a couple more female gymnos and do the 55 as a tank for them as well. The orange heads and notatus should have plenty of room in the 125 as the geos don't get too huge on average and the single pair of notatus will probably claim one side of the tank if they spawn.

Is the 125 a 6' tank? That'd be ideal.

The tank is a deep 5' acrylic half octagon, kinda like a bow, with an overflow in the center. Formerly a marine tank with an afixed acrylic top with 2 holes and acryliv covers for them. Its really nice but limits driftwood options, most likly no evaporation.

Or

A deep rectangular glass 5' 125 that the severums are in know, the aggressive guys are going to a 155 bow. Decisions, decisions.

Also some of the high elevation Mexican live bearers like Xenoteca eiseni

How do the Australoheros sp red ceibals get along with the gymnos? I'd expect the Australoheros to have a lot more fight in them.

The Gymnos and Ceibals seem to tolerate each other as long as they are not spawning, and the same size.
Each have seasonal growth spurts, but in the ponds, or large tanks, non spawning aggression has not been a problem.
Below a Ceibal in non spawning colors

I don't find either Ceibals or Gymnos work well with most Centrals, most Centrals are just too aggressive, although I am growing out Gymno fry with Herichthys carpintus at the moment (definitely not long term) , and have kept them with Tilapines.

Those fish are beautiful, i guess they also fair well in the cooler temps.
Are they dwarf cichlids?

Yes they were collected from "a place near Bella Union" (to quote Felipe), Uruguay and imported by Scoot Arney. It can definitely handle the cooling period. I had them for a few months and they wouldn't stop breeding, so I ended up giving them to Ken Davis. He may still have some fry.

I wouldn't necessarily call them dwarfs. If memory serves, the male got to ~6" and the female a bit smaller.

spawning colors of Ceibals are the yellow with dark stripes

To me, their spawning colors are worth any wait, I keep one mated pair in an algae filled tank outside, in the summer.
