Red head Tapajos Eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
They have chosen the slate twice so far. And will do, thanks

I don't know how big the plecos are.. but maybe move the plecos to the 10 gallon (if they are not too large). Some plecos are noctural. I am not a Geo expert at all.. but I know from breeding apistos that the fry are vulnerable to being attacked at night by other fish.. harder for the parents to guard them.
So maybe the plecos are eating the eggs at night. I know at least some (maybe all) plecos will eat eggs of fish.

In an ideal world, you would just have the breeding pair in there. But the next best thing would be to remove the fish you can. What else is in there besides the plecos.

Moving them not really possible at the moment. I have a pair of BN's and a large Green Phantom. From what I saw, the Red head tapajos did a good job of defending the eggs and i left a small light on for them overnight and woke up and they were all there. Most of them didnt look fertile and i suspect that it was the female who was eating the eggs because she didnt let anything close to it. Other fish in there are a pair of Chocolate cichlids, pair of severum, pair of Heckelii

ok, if you can not remove the other fish, I might try artifical hatching if I was you.
It is going to be hard for the parents to defend against 3 plecos and 6 other cichilds.
I really do not have experience artificial hatching Geos though.. I am just going by my gut feel here. The little experience I have had with Geos, I had pairs without other species in the tank. Just want to let you know, I am not an expert :)
