Keep up the water changes and go buy a basic test kit. You want to check for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. Keep an eye on these until your tank is cycled. You want ammonia at zero. Nitrite also at zero. Nitrates should be kept as low as you can but some won't hurt. Good luck.

if one day i decide to change the filter, do i need to recycle again? because im intending to change into overhead filtration. so what should i do?
 
use the same filter material for the overhead filter.
your tank is cycling.
if you can,move him to an older setup.
 
get some black subsrate or black background
