How can I tell the difference between a red ingot and a kk parrot?

Last night at one of my LFS, and when I browsed the fish, I found a huuuuge parrot fish!

I'm pretty sure it's a Red Ingot, it's as big as my hand with my figers spread out, deep red, and had long flowy dorsal fin.

It had some minor HITH, so I didn't bother asking how much.

Now I'm tempted, it was beautiful. I'm going to go back today and ask.

I've read that HITH will heal with clean water. Would be nice to see this beast back in top shape.

EDIT: I just called.... it's only $50!

Hmm.. I dont' remember the shape of the mouth, but I do remember the head shape didn't have the typical parrot indent to it.

If it is that big for $50, it's a great deal. Get it

I would not spend $50 on a fish with HITH. I'd low ball them like a mofo.

haha wish I could but I've been going to this LFS for years. I get hooked up from time to time, so it would almost feel disrespectful to ask for a lower price, especially on a fish this big already. I'm guessing it was a trade in or something.

I've been looking up red ingot/mammon and saw that they sell for a few bills with a certificate of authenticity.

I know this one doesn't have a certificate or anything, but it looks like a great fish aside from the very minor HITH.

I want to bro, I'm waiting to see what's up with the fader kamalau I got in the tank right now.

I might have two male, still not 100%, and then I'm not sure what this big parrot is.

Truth is, I'll probably get it, especially after seeing this:

haha.. but does the one at the store look like those?? They arent hard to find. They look like parrots and everybody and their momma can get parrots or kkps.

Since the fish is sick, and you want it, let me give you a good advice.
You point out that the fish is sick if the owner doesn't know.
Tell them you want the fish after they heal it. You can give them deposit money to back up your words. Who the heck wants to pay to bring home problems right?
And if the fish dies instead of heal, you get your deposit money back.

No body wants to buy a sick animal. It's trouble. The fish don't automatically heal if you bring it home. It's one of many fishes they have. And it's sick. You're the customer. Talk business to secure your fish + your money. GL.

The kkp picture in the website are only a few exception. Fish with that quality will cost you.

Hole in the head will heal with good clean water after a couple of months depending how bad it is.

Not all kkp have close normal mouth. The cheaper quality cannot close it mouth while the higher quality will.

$50 for a large parrot is a good price. You can try to point out to the lfs about the hith problem and if the owner won't lower the price, get it anyway...I would.

if it is as red as the fish on the site that you posted, you should get it. even the blood red parrots at 2-3 inches are between 20 and 30 dollars. i would buy it, but i have been looking for one of those for a while
