I have a breeding pair of red isletas. They are not overly aggressive but can certainly hold their own. They get large nuchal humps and a red color around the face and throat. As for knowing the origins of the fish or whether it's even a separate species of Amphilophus, ask Jeff Rapps. Supposedly, they are from a somewhat isolated region of lago nicaragua. Either way, they do have physical traits that distinguish them from the other barred amphilophus species and they remain one of the less common amphilophus in the hobby. A fair offer and you can have my pair.
