Ok, it is 1:40 a.m. Monday, I just finished acclimating and treating the wild Istlanum I just brought back from Amacuzac. I am going to sleep now. Please don't ask for pictures NOW as yo will NOT get any, anytime soon. It was a very rough trip, and very exhausting. I asked many of you to PM me about 2 monthes ago, becasue I was starting a who wants Istlanum list. Many of you replied right away, and some just not too long ago. Collecting wild cichlids is NOT like going to thr LFS. You cant chooses sizes or sexes, or quantities, you take what you can get. I will start going down the list, and will see who still wants and how many will be available after. Prices will NOT be negotiable, so please don't ask, or else I will move on to the next person. Sorry, it's just that all the bad stuff that could have happend, happend, and I am very tired. The fish, they are fine. As soon as I am able, I WILL take pics, and will start shipping very soon as they look very healthy and have been medicating since their capture. These are the "Red istlanum", from Rio Amacuzac, by far the nicest colored of ALL Istlanum. Thank you!

Congrats Joe, take a rest and I'll visit you when you are ready. JUst let me know. I'll take some pics too :)

Sorry all, I was very tired last night, and I may have come off a bit rude? Anyhow, Ruck Fules, if you really want to? Anytime you want, as they are looking good this a.m. The only native cichlid the whole region, in that part of Mexico is Istlanum. There are Green Terrors and convicts in the river, but they are all the result of someone dumping their aquarium fish in there. I did NOt bring anything else, as I only had enough room for Istlanum. If the Green terorrs, were true wild ones thern I would have brought some, but they are all desendants of aquarium breed individuals. Anyway, I will take some pics, but they wont be as good As Ruck Fules, or anyones pics really. I suck at taking pics! There had been a very big storm due to a Hurricane in Mexico, that really caused the river to swell and turn the water into chocolate milk! But we were still successful, even more so then the last time.

It was very fun, but at same time exhausting. Lots of travel...air and car. River was rough, and it was hard to fish. I dont mind carrying all the gear, as it part of the adventure. What sucked was at the airport in Mexico, almost took my fish away from me. Finally after the problem was taken $$ care of, the "baggage" they were in was over weight limits $$. Ok so we are off back to the beautiful USA! Does NOT end so easy. I waited for the "baggage" to come down and it never did. I was like,"Oh my God, the airline lost my bagage"! My plane landed just before 8 pm, I could have been acclimating by 9, but NO, they lost my bag. They sent me up to ticketing once I got out of customs. They tracked my bag, and luckily, it was on a later flight and due into LAX by 11 pm, so I was at LAX at 12 Midnight as they said I should do, and there was my big blue cooler, I was so releived. I quickly took it to my car. My drive home from LAX is a quick one, about a 5 min. drive. I got home opened the cooler and 1 bag had leaked, but he was alive, they all were, all 26! It just took me longer to finish, since so late. Anyway, just goes to show, how plans may not always work out, but thank God, it turned out fine. Lets get these Istlanums to you now! :naughty:

Sounds fun

Was with a group of people coming back from mexico and they pull the same thing. Without weighing the luggage said it was overweight. "But for $50 we can overlook it." If I had another tank I would love one.

Wow, Joe, sounds like a fun trip, being exhausted is just a part of it. You are just lucky not to catch the swine flue. 26 Istalnum, that is very impressive. You are doing many great things for this hobby.
