The leopards in the picture still have some juvenile coloration. In fact, a lot of juvenile coloration. They should improve tremendously given good care. I couldn't see the second batch of pics of the pigeons, just red x's. Discus colors evolve with age. Few strains show adult coloration on 3 or 4" fish.
It's a toss up of whether you want immediate satisfaction or long-term satisfaction. The only bad thing is if the long-term doesn't work out...
