I've found a new love for Orandas. I picked up three of them and I think I'm going to unload my 5 Oscars and replace them with Orandas. Anyone keep these guy's ? Like them, hate them ect... any info ?

Redcap Ornadas?
I used to have one, was a great fish, full of personality.
Was about the size of a softball, always swimming back and forth, all day long.

I'm wanting to get another and a ryukin or two, very active fish.
:D

They're lovely fish. I've kept plenty of goldies before. Sinking foods are much more preferred as floating pellets tend to make them ingest the air which causes the swim bladder disorders. Careful. Some goldies can reach 6-10 inches depending on your accommodations.

they are one of the few types of goldies i actually like

For some reason I could never keep recaps alive. First one was boiled to death from a defective heater. The other one spawned with my female oranda then developed bloat on one side of his body and died.

For vday I got my gf a red cap oranda so it will be interesting. I do however have a orange oranda!

Heres her in the 180gallon with a 12"+ comet, thats one of her babies I kept on the lower right. Single tailed fancy :)

Here she was 4months ago, shes over 10" now my guess would be 11-12" head to tail. Shes to strong to catch and measure again so I just let her be.
