RED OScar unusual behaviour

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Acting normal when it's feeding time is a good sign. I had one that would come up to the top and look at the food, then flutter to the bottom and start gasping for air. I was worried, so I tried putting shrimp in. That little bugger shot up to the top of the tank and gulped that shrimp down in no time.
It was totally a spoiled issue.

I have also herd of some oscars taking a while to warm up to people.
Other than the constant sulking, are they showing any other signs of being sick or anything?
Is there a chance that something could be spooking them?

I have a new oscar that is doing the same thing, he lies on his side in a corner till feeding time, or i approach the tank then he acts great,

Mine have been the same too the parameters seem ok, one of them jumped clear of the water today when i was feeding him acting normal, but if i go to the tank or switch on the lights they kinda hide. Maybe they will take a while to adapt to my ugly mug :)

Have you checked the water temp? both mine did that once, and when I finaly dipped my finger I realised my heater had run amok. They spent monst of the time in the corner lying on top of a bichir
