You normally leave the Epsom in the tank until it passes something. If it's still that way after 24 hours there's not much of a chance it will work. As mentioned, it may not be an intestinal blockage but a swim bladder issue or even an internal infection.

I have read both ways. Unfortunately it ended up passing anyway... Thanks for the help and education though.
