Red severums laying eggs

So, if the Red Sevs are sterile, how do we get them in the first place? Are they just some color morph that breeders have developed from greens, rokteils, golds or whatever?

i notice that the reds essentially look like a gold with the worming developed to a bright red.

Red severums are a gold severum that have been line bread for the red markings. That's why there is a high rate of them that are not able to produce fry. From what I have read it sounds like you should take a red female and gold male and you will have the best luck with that.

My super reds laid eggs last week and the eggs turned white after a few days too and were gone the next time I looked in the tank. Shame :(
