Other than these brown spots it acts completely normal and eats like a hog.
That's a polite description. It's like deep down they want to be Piranhas.:D

If it were me if it acts and eats normally I would just leave it be as you could stress it out even more dumping all kinds of meds in the tank.

Yup. Good advice. (And $50 is par).

just wanted to give an update...so I stopped treatment the day I said I would, and, it has pretty much stayed the same since. However, I did notice another SD showing these same markings on both sides a week later...now I'm not sure if this is a spreadable thing or what-but here's what I can make of it:
It's only on both of my males (2 males, 2 females)...now, I can go out on a limb here and say it only happens to males...but we shall see, I will post back here if the females start getting this as well. Otherwise these guys and gals appear to be in good health, eating and swimming great, attitudes fine with them all-they never changed one bit.

What are your thoughts....perhaps this is something that only males exhibit?

My regular SDs have not caught this.

This is crazy, so out of all the people on MFK its just 2 or 3 of you dealing with this. Strange issue, and I wish more people could chime in but maybe its that rare.

much cooler than just dithers to me lol. Hell I love the regular ones too though so go figure. Its not like they are Zebra danios lol, nothin against danios!

Anyways, hope it gets figured out some day. Cool fish.

You're not the only one who feels this way.

How in the world does he clean that tank!? SDs tend to be skittish.

lol I know Ive watched that vid several times. Tank might be kinda small but I didnt see the entire tank view. Hey if you dont mind, Im having an issue with mine as well and Ive been out of the hobby for a long time, used to have tons of tanks and never had any disease issues, but now I need a little help in my other thread if you think you could look.

Dont mean to derail. Just dont want it to get too far ya know. I truly wish the best for your guys fish, such cool fish and strange issue Ive personally never seen.
