Revival of a thread! I saved this one awhile back, and after looking at it again I'm amazed at how close these guys look to the Petsmart kamfa we've seen so much of recently. So is it possible that a Vieja Breidohri crossed with a Thai Silk could be the main species some of us have gotten?
I haven't seen Bud post in forever, you might have to PM him to get him to show up.
Yes this is heavy silk in the genetics but its not as simple as that. I know there is Texas in the fish, you can see it in some of their faces and from what I have seen most have yellow eyes. All I can say for sure is Texas, Silk based fish, and Vieja are used. I would think that both parents are hybrids because from what being thrown out in the strain, its not a simple cross.
Hunter ps. Breidohri is a very different fish. I don't think segrest even has them. They do however have lots of different vieja (george came from them) and they have red veija and blue flowerhorn so this is what I am thinking they are crossing. They sell rose queens and something that looks like a low quality srs they call cichlasoma sp. "orange show".
Thats where i'm getting my theory our so called "pk"s are blues crossed with reds in hope you get something exactly in between (their full pearl rts)
I still don't think they are breeding them themselves, I see no reason to assume that. I think its more likely they are receiving them from a breeder who is just throwing his crap fish their way. Ask Mojo, he might know if they are breeding Flowerhorn since hes been there.
