Red (Spotted) Severum

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We have 2 pair they have spawned 3 times and we have 1 fish to show for it the males are usually sterile. I've heard anytime severums are crossed you end up with the wild coloration here in Alberta you see them once in awhile at the lfs and 2 inch are around 40 to 60 plus dollars. Watch online you may find people selling them right close to home if you could get a few of them would be a good fish to try and breed as someone earlier mentioned I think they are weaker than other severums could be from line breeding good luck and hope you can find some.

I have a pair that breed regularly. Had them for about a year and some odd months. They are around 6"

Hey kanta you said yours breed all the time do you ever get fry from them?

I have gotten maybe 2 successful spawns, I have to really tend to the eggs. Allot is times they don't get fertilized properly.

hard to decide 1 5" clown loach, or 2 3" clown loach, or a Red Severum, had to think for awhile, came home with 2 nice clown loaches for $20, :) Wet Spot has them for $24.99, around 2-3 inches, they are good looking fish, I just don't have the room, and knowledge of them right now. you can call their parent company cichlid exchange. good luck with your search.

Here is a not so great pic of mine. He is housed in a 125 with some of my Geo's. Beautiful fish and I got him from Jeff Rapps. I did see some for sale last week on Aquabid so you might want to check their.
