Its a Acestrorhynchus falcatus or Red Tail Barracuda also see them sold a Fresh water Barracuda even though that's normally a Hujeta and also a tiger fish???? and Spotted Cachorro also see as Hujeta so good luck with your LFS.have had these in the past when I got my first one was told will get to 8-9 inches I sold mine at a foot and regretted it got a 2nd one and started all over again they do need a large tank as do have a habit of smashing into the end of it I got mine eating mussels and prawns but it was hard. Did fined it harmless to any fish it doesn't see as a food source. have got some teeth on them.I know a man with one fo sale at the mo....

They are a bit flighty and need a larger tank than their size would indicate, They are SA and a member of the cachorros (acestrorhynchus) that one is a falcatus I believe, they get around a foot long, sometimes a little bigger but not much, they like a mix of open water and clumps of plants. They are not easy to get to eat pellets but will also take crickets as well as fish. 4-6" ones dun from $25-$50 US depending on whos got them. I haven't checked the buy and sell but I know that liveaquaria carries them at $50. here is a picture of the business end from a fishing site.
I'm pretty dang sure it's acestro. altus(top pic) acestro. falcatus(bottem pic) is much skinnier, but any acestro is wicked :headbang2

It could easily be the altus, they are both sold as Redtail barracudas, the falcatus is more common to see, not all falcatus stay as skinny as that one though. They altus has the dark spot behind the gill plate. Both are great fish with simalar habits.
Try tossing in a handful of large live crickets, it is pretty cool to watch as the fish makes repaeted lightning fast strikes until they are gone.
It is easy to see why these are popular with fly fisherman using light gear.
