Just an example lol but could be a pink tail chalceus or something; not saying you don't know but can't ID without a pic lol

Oh yeah haha didn't mean to be snappy if it was taken like that was just in a rush at work, here's the pic, I could see it being falcatus, but doesn't have as much red on it as others I've seen. He's in a 15 ga QT right now for a week, maybe more (as I said, this LFS is infamous for having sickly fish). Then hell be going in my breeder, until he can gain a few more inches so he can hold his own with my preds

Thanks man can't wait to get him in the main tank, he managed to eat 4 baby mollies all night so he's for sure got a good appetite

now that I look at him with a full stomach and looks normal I could see him being falcatus, does anyone know if people have hybridized them like cichla? (as in most are hybrids and your lucky to find a true single specie specimen)

I'm not so good with IDs, but I always thought falcatus had a humeral spot. Might be a falcirostus or microlepis? I would just try to google 'acestrorhyncus' and see if you can narrow it down. Kind of looks like he has a horizontal stripe in that pic, that should help ID some.

its not a yellow. its a red. 100% red cuda. My yellow cuda looked way different at 2-3" The head shape is different and by the jaw

It looks like a yellow cuda to me. I see the yellow lateral line. Pics aren't so clear but the cuda in the pic is very slim and not as strongly as built as the falcatus.

needs better pics and let it grow a bit more.

Not an exact expert on these fish: https://www.google.ca/search?q=yell...showthread.php%3Ft%3D25414%26page%3D4;600;275

Looks like a red to me as well. I had a yellow around the same size and it didn't have the black line on the snout or the stripe going along the sides.

Yep well have to let him gain some weight n length to tell for sure, the red spot is throwing me off because most other falcatus I've seen also have red fins. Different collection points? Haha this lil guy came from a not so good LFS on the treatment and feeding side.. they were feeding my rainbow wolf goldfish and this guy tiny little rosies. I started feeding him baby mollies and has probably eaten more then a dozen since I got him. He is voracious he must not have been well fed at all
