so im gettin an 8x4 aquarium and i have a 6x2x2 sump for it i would like a "pet" catfish something thats responsive to its owner i have grown a red tail cat for a mates pond in the 6x2x2 and he got to 22" in a year and was a lovely fish to keep...... but the crystal eyed cat the wykii is so cool it jus looks cold. i have heard these cats are really cool specimen fish as i only really want 1 fish in the tank i understand that rtcs can have tankmates and i understand that wykii CANNOT due to there aggresive nature although a mate of mine has kept one with a red snakehead and they were fine???? so please help wat cat should i choose and any info on decor of tank jus like background and stuff i know that with an rtc i will need to upgrade to an indoor pond and thats fine when the time comes if i got an rtc i would build pond when he is 30" or jus 2 and a half feet ty.

I'd say the red tail, but of course, I'm really biased!

Ive kept both. I'd go RTC. Much more active as far as Cats go. As well as more interactive. You can train him to take food from your hand, and be petted. WHile a Wyckii looks cool, but isn't very active and is probably the most aggressive fish Ive ever kept...and ive kept a LOT. most people tend to confuse territorial with aggression, but I assure you...Wyckii..aggressive. Will go out of his way to mess with whatever you have with him.

Chances are you will want to add something to the tank other than just a cat..Atleast with an RTC yo're left more options.

rtc= monster pond :irked: or just water sealing the bottom of my house lol but yeh i kept a red tail cat for my mates pond to grow hih. he was brilliant, a true brute and an interactive fish if i never saw one lol
although size of these monsters worries me as i like glass tanks, not ponds. and seing as i would need say 24x12 footprint to comfortabley keep one i dont think i can afford it. an aquarium that big would need like 50mm glass.

RTC, but beware the growth rate

Not convinced a 8x4 is big enough for a RTC tbh...
