Hello I am new to this forum so if i've posted in the wrong section I am sorry still learning my way around. I Have a RTC about 8-9 inches in a 220 gal. tank and he seems to be shedding, is this possible or is he sick? Not sure what is going on can anyone help?

shedding ???? Please post pics .

Check your water params. could be ammonia burn..

ummm shedding slime coat isnt such a 'normal' sign tho...it usually means that ure RTC is either really stressed or maybe getting sick. i suggest more frequent water changes. higher temp? just keep the water really clean and watch him till he stops shedding! my RTCs on shed wen i moved them to a new home.

Actually Shedding is very normal at this size,... I know it's been awhile for you ;)

But they got through a alot of strain on their bodies at this size which causes stress (Like growing pains for children) due to their rapid growth, water changes never hurt a fish though so make sure you keep up on those as it will cut down on the chance of infections

His water is good I change it constantly. I just moved him fromm a 55 gal to a 220 gal maybe that is why? he's only been in his new tank 2 weeks. It cycled for 4 weeks before I put him in. Ammonia level is zero ph is about 7.5. he's got 2 bio-wheel, 2 power-heads, and a undergravel filter as well. His tank mates are totally normal.

my rtc gets a few bits of slime dragging around after him every now and then , not had any health issues to explain it ,, water parameters for mine are good and water changed 20% every day ,,i just put it down to a growing thing ,,
