Mine got his tail at around 12", it was grey-orange for the LONGEST time... after feeding more shrimp I definitely noticed a change though.

Ya im feeding monte shrimp but i hav read up on the pellets for these guys from hikari and they say it has a ton of carotene and is suppose to enhance the color... I really don't kno if that tru but right now I'm wrapping the pellets up in shrimp so he'll eat em haha double enhancing 
Ooooooooo ya !!!!! I just hauled 4 ton or so of rock for Monte's pond. And then my dad carried the last ton by himself cuz I was so tired . But anyway the pond for him is coming together and then all I'll have to do is worry about heating the pond and him not eating my koi or the baby girl next door. Haha. I wonder wit would happen if a predatory bird landed in the pond... Would he try to eat it?

He sure is a fighter haha it's like fishn when he tugs on the worm and he loves his worms. Just thank god that he is not shy one bit. Cuz I see a lot of baby rtc just hiding and mine likes to take a little stroll every now and then ... Which makes me think he is hungry but he'll hav a nice belly on him (its fun to watch)
ok here is my pond. its not finish yet but im done hauln all the rocks, i hav the pipes in the ground with the skimmer and im workn on the waterfall. i also hav a filter that culd filter 2 of these ponds.. (its for monte)
