Well first all Black Ghost Knife fish are just maintainable in a 90G but a Red Tailed Catfish gets up to at least 36 inches (3 feet)..that sums up most of your decision..but i love both and id rather have imo a RTC..but a BGK is more managable..

ive personally seen 5ft and im willing to bet there is larger ones also.

Don't get a red tail catfish it is like having a big, hungry child.
LMAO! The only difference is you can't feed the RTC Gerber.:ROFL:

How big is your accommodation? Yes, BGK is more manageable. Think twice before you end up with a RTC.

Personality and beauty of a RTC is the appeal of this gorgeous monsters and they are very personable fish, but I would have to say that a BGK would be more manageable. They also have a personality and beauty that would make them worth a try, but they are pretty shy and not as personable.

If you got atleast 2,000 gallons get the RTC. But a BGK is a really nice fish too, Ive owned one before and liked it alot. I gave it away because it got too big for my 55 gallon.

Am I the only one that feels like these are funny to chose between? Completely different fish with different size requirements...

bit odd, seeing as the whole completely different species i agree.

but personally i've tossed up between barra's and a giant community. neither one due to funds but probably more just two fish he or she likes and has been contemplating.

anyways...
personally i'd go the RTC but it all depends on what you want.
and more importantly what you can house.
don't fall into what so many people do of the "i'll get a bigger tank later" it doesn't always happen.
the BGK is a beautiful fish, and i'm just biased because we all want what we can't have :)
my 0.02$

RTC are monsters - its like bringing up a fat baby...
BGKF would be recomended - they are nice fish, and probably easier to handle.
