hi everybody i just found 2 rtc in my area i seek them for over 2 years and i finally found them i have a grow out tank for them and in summer i will make a 500-550 gallons pond for them, will be a good home for them ? i don't wanna mean ''perfect'' home but will be enough big to live there for life the pond will be somewhere 8 feet long x 4.5 feet wide and 3 feet high....if the fish get 4 feet the length is double so i think is ok no ? i wait for any answers

i don't argue you are wright but you can't say me it isn't better than a 30 gallons tank and also i heard that the barely minimum is 300 gallons and mine is bigger and i will be lucky if those cats go to maximum 3-4 feet because even at 4 ft is space for them at 5 feet is pretty small for two but i rarely heard that this cats get 5 feet in captivity
they get very big, there is one at my local aquarium that is 3.5 feet long, but IME they are not very active so a 12 by 6 by 6 should suffice for 1 long term
i mean a 9 by 5 by 5, so if you can make the pond a bit larger then you could easily fit one in there
sad to see that ^ as 8ftx4.5x3 is maximum i can afford but let's see everbody's opinion as there might be peoples that kept rtc in similar sized pond as mine... i will try to put it a bit different i hope i may go with 10 feet long but let's hope i may have enough space for that...still the main question is if i can keep them in the pond but what other monsters that eat pretty big live fish i can afford for this pond a snakehead pair would be ok or something like that i don't know give me ideas but i don't think if i can find them in my country as the only fish that i found from an import are rtc no other monsters
i think you should be fine becuase the only report i've heard of one growing above 4 feet is TL. i think you should be fine as a minimum
yeah that's what i am trying to say that there are rare case of this cats growing over 4 feet and while they are under 4 feet or 4 feet max it will be a minimum for them and considering that i am keeping them in a 30 g to growout till i make the pond and i wont powerfeed them to get as big as they can i think they'll keep under 4 ft and will be space for everbody as i won't mix them with anything else as they are my favourite fish and i know bigger is better but is the best home i can get for them
