Yup, You can always eat it. I hear they taste quite nice ^_^ better then freezing and throwing.

Was going to ask but thought I might get boo'd off the forum lol. In all seriousness if one really liked red tailed cats why not just grow them out and eventually use it as food? People do it with lobsters, pigs, cows, and things. Why not a fish?

These red tail catfish usually grow up to a inch a month, literally. And if you're looking for keeping them in 4 foot tank for 6 months, then you can go with it. But be sure once you move to new place make a proper arrangement for them.

I'm newer to keeping big cats... the past 2yrs... and My suggestion.. Wait... Once you move set-up a pond/ect for it long-term.. and then go buy a baby and grow it up in other tanks.. 12"-24" will come a lot faster then you think.. and trying to move a big heavy bio-load fish isn't fun or easy ( We did this w/ out TSN and hybrid cats) RTC are easy to find/procure ect... Because once you start looking at 500+ gallons your filtration ect not just your water volume will become a whole new world and you will end up with a lot of headaches.. If it all goes relatively smooth!

Can it be done how your proposing? yes... but if your personal life ect is already busy "hectic" ect... I would wait until your settled into your new home ect to take these guys on.. while fairy easy ect to care for ime they can also be delicate to poor water quality ect.. and baby catfish should be well fed... not starved... just saying that your intending not to feed it a lot.. says to me that your concerned about its growth... and you should be =)
