Is that leftover food on the bottom? If so syphon it out don't let it sit to long especially because cats rest at the bottom. Which is where the waste(s) is/are. He doesn't look too bad. Start fattening him up.

No it is fine sand and some pebbles, which had spilled from the plant pot. Now I put some sandrine plants in the tank to absorb nitrates. now no more pebbles. just palin tank bottom.

Hey Guys,
Have you used a denitrifying coils with RTCs or any monster fish? Does it work? I came across it on internet. but i would like to get some feed back from you gurus if that is gonna work. I am having a trickle filter and smaller powerhead sponge filter atm. I am thinking now only ammonia > nitrite > nitrate process is working and nitrates are either absobed by plants or removed with water changes. i am thinking, i need to create anaerobic environment to make bacteria break down nitrates. Some guys say that these coils take down the nitrate ppm level by 20ppm or more. Do you have any experience in using these or any helpful comments??

I am not a guru by any stretch... but I have never heard of it and never used. Can you, please, post a link or two to read what you are talking about?
