By the way, i just got a juvenile pearl arrowana and a pictus catfish, what do you think is the best food for them? I was thinking dried bloodworms for now before i go on to meat-based pellets. And also, what do you think is the best food for a juvenile RTC, about 7cm/2inches long? I don't think it is comfortable enough to swim to the surface for dried bloodworms.

You're all over the place mate. You speak of being devastated that a 5inch flowerhorn was eaten by a 2 year old RTC. And now you have just bought another 2" RTC?

Mikeyy, we have to get over devastation at some point in our lives. Besides, I didn't even say that i bought the juvenile fishes after my flowerhorn was brutally murdered! I was just asking if anybody knew a better diet for these juveniles to see if my current diet is suitable for them... otherwise they might end up injuring one another and that wouldn't be nice!

Anyway, thanks for reading this thread Mikeyy and would you by any chance know a good diet for these juveniles?

You say that is cruel and unethical to feed them live fish but in the amazon they eat live fish all day. It would be much more natural for them to eat live fish. I dont feed them live fish because the only 2 places with live feeders around here are petco and petsmart and it just make me cry looking at the poor state those fish are in. Every fish there has some type of disease or injury so I would never feed my fish that.

hahaha but have you ever viewed any youtube videos where people find it amusing when they see a goldfish getting ripped apart, where the people go "oh yeah redtail! that's my arowana!"? that is what i call unethical. I think if you feed your fish live feeders for the purpose of amusing yourself, you're psycho, but if you are feeding lives to your fish for re-creating a natural environment, that's a different debate after all:) Either way, don't you think the life of a feeder is sad?

really youre flowerhorn wasnt brutally murdered, rtcs are big and powerful fish with huge mouths. You shouldnt have put the flowerhorn in there on the first place

It was your mistake for placing the flowerhorn in the tank in the first place... And btw. How can you forget about a 2 year old RTC. That thing must be over 2 ft pushing 3... How do you just forget about that? And the biggest question of all is how are those 5 inch cichlids still alive??!!
