Hi guys I bought this fish two week today I was told it eat dead food but it won't touch it ..
However I have read about tying a dead fish to some fishing line and let it hover over the air bubbles and the tat as add a nibble but won't take it !..
Any ideas on getting this guy to eat .

Two weeks and nothing yet?I would give it live feeders untill it fattens up a little and then try giving it other foods such as freeze dried krill and silversides.

I would give him a small snack so you know he has something in his stomach.
Then starve him for a week at a time and on the 7th day give him very little food... 1-2 babby comets max. The idea is for him to not starve, not to stuff him.
The rest of the days, I would start to feed him freeze dried krill. 1 half per day so you don't waste food.

IME, it was rather hard to get them off live. Very very possible but to me the key is the amount of food fed between feedings.

I got my scomb (although not a tat) off live by feeding him silversides. He will only go after it if it's falling in front of his face where he can see it, and will only go after it while it's falling... will not touch it once it hits the bottom. Maybe you might have similar luck.

Well after all the hard work getting food to move in front of the tat by tiein it to a fishing line all I did was drop a prawn in front of him and he eat it!! Lol god I feel stupid....
On a lighter note glad he's eatin and thanks for all your replys .

Good for you,and your tat.I'm guessing it was hungry enough at the time that you dropped the prawn and he jumped on it.

Glad he is eating too! My first red tail gave me that scare! LOL Now he eats silversides, once a week he gets live!

He's eaten 2 good size prawns
Very happy me and him lol
Iam going to start beeding Convics and start treating him to some live food once a week too .

That's a good idea, I know when mine got over his shyness after almost 3 weeks he ate so many minnows I thought his belly would explode! I noticed after a month, he saw other fish eating silversides and decided to give it a shot, he spat it out the first time but like the following day he ate it! I often stuff the silverside with pellets.
