Hey everyone I'm just in need of some quick advice for I'm about to buy a payara its about 6 inches and it has a little bit of orange on its tail the price is 69 bucks is it possibly a red tail payara and is the price right?
 
That is usually what I have seen them for around here. From that description I can't tell what it is. A pic will definitely help. Where is it? The only ones I've seen lately were at Big Al's hamilton $69.99 but all of them appeared to be scombs.

Thanks bro I guess big alls coulda charged more but they didn't even know there different species of payara lol
 
7btw after 10 minutes in the tank he ate two rossy reds :nilly: "crazy"
 
Red tail cuda maybe hujeta or Florida gar
 
I wouldn't go with the florida gar. There is the risk of the florida attacking the tat. Gars are more prone to go after silvery fish.

I used to keep my tat with lima shovelnoses, bichirs, ctenopomas, and a datnoid.
