I just bought a small 2"-3" rtc. I have him in my 180 gallon tank. The LFS I bought him at said (and I doubted it at the time but bought him anyway because he was so cheap) "oh, 180 is plenty of room for him. He will only grow to about 2 feet in a 180 gl tank". I seriously doubted it then and I still doubt it now. My question is, was he right? If not then, then how soon should I expect he will be with me? Will I have him for a couple years before I'm forced to move him? I actually hope that he was right, that the fish will stop, or at least, really slow down growth at 24". Any experienced knowledge of this senerio would be great. Thanks. Brian

That guy needs to be cockpunched. A 180 is better than what most RTCs get, but it will eventually need something much larger. It may go for a couple of years, but if it appears that its not growing, it still is inside.

yea your good for awhile, theres alotta rtc's out there who would love to have a 180

Most guys are gonna flip on this subject, but I have owned many RTC's and a 180 will be fine for several years. Do plenty of water changes, and watch what you put with it as it grows, it WILL eat anything it can get in it's mouth, even his friends he was raised with.

Keep up on the water changes Ive had 3 and it seems that once they get over 15" or so and the water quality is not good they get sick very easily.

2 Arowanas and a 1 full size oscar. Though, I'm thinking of losing one of the arows
