Hi every one.I'm buying a rtc this weekend and am looking for some advice on how to make it a happy fish.I have a 350 litre 4 foot tank.I know this won't be big enough for it later in life but I will upgrade when the time comes.I need answers on how big the tunnel will need to be,plants, what I need on the bottom of the tank ect.thanks all.

any plants on bottom of tank will be plants on top of tank. I use bulb plants so when they are uprooted I can just put them in another place in tank and they stay on bottom. Tunnel or cave question... how big is rtc and how often do you intend on expanding. I would start with a cave about 3-4 X your fish length and go up from there. Remember if you plan on using pvc that rtc tend to get wide and long

like others have said it will require something significantly longe rthan 4', but in the meantime, why not use pvc pipes for hiding spots if the RTC is still tiny?

Return the cat while some fish store will still accept it. They actually need to be in a large outdoor pond. Sorry probally not what you want to hear but the truth.

No tank can hold this thing. One of my customers just put up a 1350gal above ground pool in his basement to house his. So if you don't want to go that route, do bother. Itll out grow your tank in 3-5 months.

RTC are sooooo kewl! Someday I would like to have one. If you have the room, then go for it. Just be sure to start prepping yourself for that big and very expensive tank you will need to house it. But once you got the perfect setup, it will be a very kewl fish to have on display in your house. All your friends and family are going to have that "wow" factor going on. lol. Best of luck to you!!!

Thanks for your answers.because of your advice I've left him at the fish shop.gutted I couldn't have him but it's best for the fish at the end of the day.I just hope they don't sell it to some other unsuspecting customer.one day I will have one.thanks again.

Yeah rtc are no joke... I see so many juvi's for sale over here i often where they end up? Since im guessing only very few people have tanks above 200G in this town, even less with if any that can house an rtc...
