All you can do is give it a try. I do not see an problem but nothing is guaranteed.

That would be very cool!

To your question I believe you can tank the two at least for awhile but they will eventually outgrow what you have. Mating I can't help you there. You might want to consider a see through barrier to protect the fish and observe them to see if they will tolerate each other.

Good luck

It might be a little tricky because Jag grow very fast and Festae grow extremely slow. But overall I don't see a problem. Festae are not as aggressive as their reputation, only nasty to conspecifics ime.

As far as outgrowing... unless you have one of those legendary 24" Jags or Festae (that no one has seen but everyone seems to talk about), I think you'll be fine too. Male Jags slow down at 12" and take a few years to reach around 16" if you're lucky, largest female festae I know of is 13".

Good luck!

I've had jags and festae that both grow fast and slow. Imo they're about the same pace. If you really want to try it then get a nice group of each at the same size. At least 6 or more of each around 2-3" and let them grow out together. In the mean time start thinning out the ones you don't plan on keeping. Otherwise try one male JAG 4-6" with 3-4 female festae at 3.5-4.5" and throw some cheap midas or something in as dithers to divert the festaes aggression from each other. I know it will work but its gonna take some patients and stay aware if the activity to make any needed changes throughout the process. Also please post updates when u do;)
