Red Terror Gender help please

I have never been good at this when they are young. Fish is approx. 3 inches in length. Male or Female? Fish usually has more barring, but I just did a big WC and it is a bit washed out right now.

i'd say female but if it gets a more vibrant reddish color then it is a male.

I thought the more red meant female?

Females' forward half of the dorsal fin is black or blue. Since that one's is not, it would indicate male. Most of the males I've seen tend to be more gold and females more red.

Do some males have black on parts of their dorsal fin as this one does, or is it located more to the front? I thought males had no black at all on the dorsal.
