Red terror ID

If you take him back to the LFS, they probably wont have a clue as to what your talking about. Not that they were trying to take advantage, but just ignorant. Hell, my LFS didnt even know what a carpintis/ green texas was. Had to order them from Fishfarm. Good luck.
 
My lfs always sells "festaes" or "red terrors" which are really mayans. They have no clue. I tried to correct them and they thought I was crazy.
 
yeah u cant blame the fish store they mostly go by very few factors on labeling fish. if it even ooks remotly like something they will label as that. Personally i love mayans too. Ive been trying to catch a small enough one to see how it will do in my tank. they are beautiful. Oh and i think urs is female.
 
This store in lakewood, Co was selling a red devil as a red Texas, I was sure that it was a Red devil, and kept tellin her, but she just kept ignoring what I said. So I wont be going back there again.
 
its not like a festae is a better fish than a mayan, there is just a difference in color and size. mayans don't get as big and are a little easier to maintain, think about keeping the fish you might like it just as much as you would a festae.

They are still awesome fish just don't have the bright red colors of true festae they have great personalities though Fun cichlid usually really aggressive and they eat a TON
 
yeah i tried to correct my lfs on that and they explained the differences to me....only completly backwards...:screwy::nilly:......so i guess im the dumb ass...ahaha:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
 
Yeah it is eating alot already and starting to fit in. It likes to flare up at my carpintis. But nothing serious. Might decide to keep it.
