i just bought this guy yesterday. for about 9 bucks, red terror, was told it is wild caught and very shy.

after reading around on here, i've learned there are 2 variants of the red terror, one being more common than the other.

here are the best pics i could get of the guy.

is this a real red terror or a false one?

either way, i love the way it looks, awesome fish. it's sorta getting picked on by my frontosa, the frontosa is just a bit bigger. but the RT does a great job of avoiding the frontosa, doesn't back down, but doesn't retaliate, i'm told they grow to be more aggressive as they mature though. i think its due to my tank being sorta bland since its recently set up. i'm gonna get some hiding places for the front and see if this lowers aggression.

that is a flowerhorn

really? i guess that's sorta of cool as well, lol.

i noticed the one i got outta the tank was one of few that had the red around eyes. as i browsed other RT on here, i noticed mine didn't have the bars extend very far, hmmm. either way awesome fish! =]

can you guys give me a quick rundown on type of flowerhorn and some basic info? i really don't know much about them besides that they're a hybrid of sorts.

Looks like what most stores are selling as low grade flowerhorns (this is not an insult to your fish or its quality, that's just how they are labled). They end up some what like a trimac. Flowerhorns can be a cross of many different cichlids so it's pretty much impossible to tell.

I can agree with what Ron was saying, I think a Flowerhorn could be trouble for those Frontosia.
