Red terror won't eat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would not use feeders. Let the ES do it's thing. Have you tested your water? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and Ph should be checked and report the results of the test. There could be several causes for the fish not eating. Were they eating before you got them? What if any background information do you have on these fish? Have you tried feeding them what they were being feed before you got them? Do you know what they were being fed??

A Ph of 6 could be part of the issue that is very low for these fish. Do you know what the perameters were in the lfs? If they were not acclamated slowly enough this could account for them not eating. I would also consider treating for IPs but I would also try to find out from the lfs what their Ph was. Is your water normally that acidic?

If your festae have internal parasites, the advice below won't help.
But I find moving semi adult and adult festae to be veryhard on them, and they often don't eat after being transported.
Are there any tankmates?
My female was starving herself after simply being moved into a different tank.
I added 4 greedy Tilapines and her attitude turned around.
Before Tilapines, note the sunken belly (in with an abusive male at the time)

after Tilapines added, much more robust.

The Tilapines
