Red Terror

for an interactive fish you could try a red devil/midas a jag or even a myan cichlid. the myan being the slowest grower of the group. If you have a smaller tank 55 gal or better a myan will give you more time to get a bigger tank.

Thanks for the input.
I guess my answer has already been made for me. I was recently given a small Jaguar (Apparently he likes to eat guppies, etc! Who would have figured!!! Even I know better than that) He currently spends his time hiding in the weeds. I guess when he gets bigger he will come out of his shell. I had no idea that he would become that agressive.

you dont mention what size tank you are thinking of getting, a RT can get big enough to need a similar size tank that a dovii would need. as some some others are recomending i think you should look at a GT. they are one of the best looking cichlids and can be a real glass banger. a single male would be great in a 50.

What size tank do you have for this jag? What is he in now? A male jaguar can easily reach 16, and its not uncommon to see bigger. I would say something around 100g for one adult male? Be carefuly of their agression as well. Mine is only 3 1/2in, but thinks he is 12. He has killed several tankmates already in a terrifying fashion. (Bites the heads off of five giant danios, but doesn't eat them)- It was like a warning- dont #$%@ with me! Hence his name is lucifer. But anyway thats my rambling, hope everything goes well with yours, keep us posted:thumbsup:

Flowerhorns are awsome fish . I have a tank with 1-Lutino Oscar !- GT 1-JD !- Monster Pleco 1- Spotted Tilapia Very active tank.

Well I am actualy a newbie to the whole aquaruim thing in general and the more I learn about it the clearer it becomes that I am set up for a HUGE problem. Heres why...
I recently bought my first tank, a used 80 gallon complete with 1 - 5" JD, 1 - 6" JD, 2 - 4" Johanni Mbuna, 1 - 4" Zebra Mbuna, 1 - 5" Rainbow Cichlid, 1 - 4" Convict and 3 - 6-9"plecos. On my way home I bought 1 - 6" Amphilophus Lyonsi, 1 - 2.5" GT, 1 - 2.5" FH, 1 - 6" Pbass (which I was told would grow very slowly) 1 - 2.5" JD. All of which I thought were going to take years to grow up. I gave the Africans to my girlfreind for her African tank and gave the 5" JD to a freind and was then given the Jag.
For the past 3 months the tank has been peaceful (probably because they have tons of rock caves and weeds to hide in) but obviously that will change since I already have half of the fish listed as headbangers in there already. I am looking for a used 180 gallon tank for the Pbass and a few "freinds" but I think I am going to have to get rid of a few more fish yet. (before I have the aquatic UFC on my hands). The flower horn has started killing my large mystery snails so I was already thinking he had to go anyway, I guess I will have to play things by ear and remove fish when they start to show some signs of agression and hope I find a tank before that happens. What burns me is that the people at the pet store knew what size tank I had and the other fish as well but said nothing to me about this combination!
P.S. yes I know 180 gal is ultimately too small for the Pbass but I dont have enough room for bigger so he will have to go when he outgrows it. :(

You definitely need to trim some fish. I would either go for a species tank with the JD's or GT's and one of the Plecos and hope you get a pair. Or go with one of each species and one of the plecos. I think the rainbow cichlid will probably get beaten on in any case. A 180 should hold your pbass for awhile and you could put one of the plecos in with it. Anyway, these are all nice looking, entertaining fish so you really can't go wrong. It is nice to have a heavily stocked tank but it is also nice to have one big, spectacular specimen in his own tank.
