mine does not look like that at all in person it is actually a whole lot redder then that just got all that black on it but if it peeled all the way, then it would be beautiful the camera phone faded the color

it has strong color. it looks more like a texas body shape to me. i am no expert. it is just the price tag that would make me think twice. try to talk them down. if it was 60, i would do it and take the chance that it doesn't completely fade. i haven't seen many bp that have permanent black marks on them. BTW, that fader looks good cam

Not to mention that what lfs keeps SA cichlids, Africans and hybrids in the same tank? Doesn't seem legit to me.

Honestly it does not look like an OB at all. The fish body and mouth has CA written all over it. It is not an OB Peacock either.

I see three options here.
I don't think anyone is going to buy it real soon and just wait to see if he peels anymore. If it does than spend the 120 on the fish, but you will still be taking a chance on a SRT.

The other option is to skip this and look for a better one. Looks like the LFS has no idea what they are talking about. Most fish store never had good grade SRT or Flowerhorn to compare it too so they are just taking words of the seller.

Third option since they mix Africans and CA together. Just go into the LFS and play dumb to see if you can buy him as an African. You can see from this post that some people said it looks like an OB.
