I just got back from the LFS and picked up 2 juvenile Black Belts about 3 inch for my 90 gal. I have a smaller 1.5-2 inch Red Texas (i think Texas x Red Devil) and he will not leave them alone. The larger one fights and clenches jaws a bit but mostly just gets chased. Im about to work a 12 hour shift and hopefully I dont come home to 2 dead fish. Will they eventually stop? Its been about 2 hours since i put them in. With my Africans the new fish get beat up for about a day until they begin to get along better.

I have a smaller Severum in there that the Texas doesnt touch.

My idea is put the Texas in a 5g bucket with air stone for 1-2 days and re introduce him. Will this work?

Before you reintroduce him I would move decor around if you have any

What size tank? It may not even matter since the Red Texas is focused on killing the BB. Reintroducing the RT to the tank after things are moved around won't work in the long run. Cichlids really aren't that stupid and if that RT wants to kill that BB then he will.
Be prepared to move or get rid of one of the fish. That red Texas will only get more aggressive with age, so you may not be able to keep any other cichlid in the future.

The aggression was calmed down when I got up this morning but the BBs don't look as good. I pulled out the rt and he is in a cover 5g bucket with air stone. All is peaceful again.

He was in a 90 g tank.

I got him from The Fish Hub. Def not an fh. Looks identical to this guy but less red.

I find when this happens I add another fish that can fight off the rt, but then this brings in issues of that fish killing the 1st fish, for example my 7ft I added a red devil and dovii, the devil bashed the dovii and would not stop, so I added a fren then him and the dovii both got bashed by the red devil, so I added a blackbelt then she kicked the red devils ass but the red devil stopped picking on other fish and bb did also so now its peaceful when ever a fight breaks out everyone stops it.

I did the same in another tank but the other black belt kept going so I added more red devils, I find this fixed the issue and the devils only fight with one another. I would personally try another RT but be prepared to return him or rehouse him.

I would also be worried once the blackbelts grow up if they do, I cant see a texas holding off a black belt, I find mine extremely strong and able to beat up larger red devils and flowerhorns quite easy, so be carefully some are nice but some get this insane tick and go on a blood spree =( after all they have the name for a reason.
