Yo, I know somebody here who works at a LFS selling one of these for 50 bucks. I'm assuming it's a reasonable price and i'll be able to get him free considering i would be trading in my africans to get him. Just wondering a few things though. Can't find to much info on them online, but are they close enough to the regular texas cichlid. These guys are hybrids right?

Its probably not a good deal. Something like 98% of 'Red Texas' don't actually turn red. That's why when they do, adults sell for a few hundred up to a thousand dollars a piece. Your odds of this fish actually being red aren't that great, so you'd be paying $50 for a regular crossbred fish.
hmmmm, i'll take a look at the little guy first. If not, then i'll have no prob taking a blue dempsey instead thanks for the info though. Kind of thought it might be too good to be true if its selling that cheaply
